Of these breeds there are but two
Both Welsh Corgi, it is true:
Cardigan, not a sweater
Pembroke, just slightly smaller.
Here's something, I tell you what
Tailed or with a bunny butt -
I love corgwyn, yes I do,
If you knew them, so would you.
Big dog in a small package
Is the popular adage,
Full of courage and much love
Surely blessed from up above.
The fox-like face that I see
Happy eyes, grin laughing at me;
No taller than three handspans
To duck from cow hooves, the plan.
These dogs seem to live to herd
If only it's just a bird.
But so playful, still can be,
They're antics are so funny.
From long ago myth oft spoke
Steeds of the faery folk,
As the Welsh and Wales are strong
Stubborn as the day is long.
Dare I say, smarter than I -
Truth be told, it's not a lie
But life with them from the start
Will give you a joy-filled heart.
But lest I spread too much fame
And much demand I'm to blame
Here are 'truths' given to foil
So the breed, it doesn't spoil.
Some bad traits there must be
Oh yes, I remember three:
Ankles are a favourite site
For corgwyn to give a bite.
They are strong-willed as I said
Leader of dogs, not be led
So firm training you must do
For corgwyn to respect you.
Finally please don't forget
Or you will live with regret -
They are a sensitive breed
You must be caring, in deed.
Now my prose comes to an end
With this message I do send:
To all those, both far and near
Every corgi is most dear.
