From the first time I saw him, we were friends. My niece was getting a service dog and my sister and I took the long trip together each week so my niece could be trained with her new dog. I hadn't really been looking to get a dog but I decided to look at the dogs they had up for adoption. They had a Jack Russel Terrier, but he was so hyper it made me nervous. They had some kind of small black yappy dog of unknown origin. That wasn't for me either. Then they brought out a small funny looking creature with hugh ears and a crooked smile. He came right to me and attempted to jump into my lap, I bent down and picked him up and set him next to me, after that he was never far from my side. I was told he was only 2-3 years old but after I got him home and to my vet I was told he was 8 or 9. Well, so Iwas lied to but for the next almost 9 years he was my constant companion with so much love to give nowone could have ever received it all.

He died last week but I'm glad we rescued him and he was so spoiled that our vet said when he died he wanted to come back as Petey my sweet wonderful Corgi. All I ever had to do was whispered "Petey, Petey" and he would come running, tail(or rather his whole rear end) wagging for all he was worth. I was right with him when he left us, he didn't want it any other way, as sick as he was he never suffered, he went very quietly and never suffered for a moment. I loved him to much to let it happen. He's in heaven for dogs but I see him daily and hear his nails clicking down the hall. I hope I can find another Cardigan with personality plus.

I hope everyone finds a best friend as great as my Petey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
