We came home Saturday night at 8. As soon as we opened the car door, our neighbor was outside saying that he had our dog. Here came this gorgeous little Corgi girl but not Cedar. My husband and I were wondering how Cedar could have gotten out anyway. Turns out that someone in the neighborhood had found the dog and thought that it was Cedar. Our neighbor heard them knocking on our door and said that he would keep Cedar until we got home. Well, there were obvious differences between this girl and our guy but not much to someone who isn't used to Corgwn. So, we told him that we would keep her for the night and try to contact the shelters, etc. No luck contacting anyone on a Saturday night so we fed her and put her up for the night with Cedar. They were civil to one another but Cedar was overly friendly for her tastes. The next morning Pat took them both for a walk thinking that someone looking might see her. No luck. We let her out in the yard to see if she might head home but she just kept hanging around and then suddenly took off down our neighbors drive way. Pat followed her to make sure that she was safe. Hopped in a minivan sitting with the door open and emergency flashers on, looking like she was right at home. This woman appeared. It turns out her name (PWC) was Daisy and she had heard the lady yelling her name. She and a chocolate lab had made their escape from a fenced in yard by digging out. We still don't know if she found the lab or not. I'm glad that she is back with her family. She is a companion for a little girl who is ill. But, I'm a little sad at the same time. I thought for sure this was a way that I could have another Corgi without complaints from my husband about the costs involved. I had kept saying that if no one claimed her after several weeks, there was no way that I would take her to animal control. Oh well. I'm glad the little girl has her companion back and we got to spend the evening with 2 Corgwn. Cedar kept looking for her for quite a while after she was gone. He evidently enjoyed her company, too.
